From Poor to Rich and Back to Poor

Well, she agreed and as the saying goes, “the rest is history”. They got married and the “delivery boy” saved enough money to purchase his own bakery.

He worked hard and slowly grew his business. In the meantime they had a baby boy. Life was good, money was not a problem so they decided to hire a “live in” babysitter to take care of the baby.

My grandfather had a soft heart, he always helped those who came to him for help. Unfortunately he didn’t know when to say no, so soon the word spread and his friends, neighbours and their friends came to him for help.

They kept on coming and because most of these people didn’t pay him back, he started borrowing money to keep the business going. However, he got so deep in debt that he was not able to survive.

When the creditors started threatening them, they feared for their life, so they could not do anything other than flee to the mountains with the only thing they still had, their own child.
